Chief objective major role is to maintain order, keeping the peace through the surveillance of the public, and the sebsequent reporting and apprehension of suspected violators of the law. We are here to protect, preserve, and enhance, the quality of life through police services.

The Domestic Violence Unit is a specialized division which falls under the Detective division of the police department.  The Domestic Violence Unit targets domestic related incidents such as: domestic violence, stalking, teen dating violence, and elderly abuse.  The Domestic Violence unit was established July, 2008.  Since 2008, the unit has assisted numerous victims during their crisis.  The Domestic Violence Unit assists the victims in every aspect of the criminal justice system; including assisting with the protection orders and providing other available resources.  The Domestic Violence Unit was and is currently funded by The Violence Against Women ACT and administered by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Planning.

Mission Statement:

The Domestic Violence Unit is to reduce the domestic violence rate and determine the homicide rates.  We strive to obtain this goal by educating the community and also educating and training our fellow officers.  This can be accomplished if everyone unites to combat domestic violence.

 Purpose: To educate, train and support the faith communities in preventing domestic violence.

Vision: Faith and secular communities must work together to :Eliminate intimate partner abuse; Protect victims and children; and Support the healing of victims, children, and offenders.

Mission: We work with faith communities to : Increase awareness of the prevalence and impact of partner abuse; Explore the dynamics of domestic violence; Develop an understanding of the role of faith communities in a Coordinated Community Response; Share their resources; and empower the faith communities to minster to families in their congregations who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence.
